Abstract

The paper will be in the form of a slide presentation and discussion and cover the origins, the mandate and will give a brief history of the Agricultural Land Commission Act and the Soil Conservation Act. The presentation will briefly discuss the application procedure, what the Agricultural Land Commission looks for and the technical information required when considering an application, the conditions of an approval, monitoring and reporting as well as the benefits of aggregate extraction from farmland. Time permitting, included will be a brief discussion on pipeline installation through agricultural lands. This will cover locating the R/W, site preparation, reclamation and monitoring.
