Axisymmetric boson stars in the conformally flat approximation Rousseau, Bruno
Abstract
In this thesis, boson stars are studied under the conformally flat approximation for the metric. Numerical simulations are used to extract solutions. The geometry is solved for using the constraint equations of general relativity and a generalization of the Klein-Gordon equation is used to evolve the matter fields. Type I critical phenomena is studied in the context of this approximation in axisymmetry by perturbing a boson star with a real massless scalar field.
