Abstract: From the foregoing description of waste material testing, it is apparent that any testing program should be carefully designed to incorporate variations in waste characteristics and climatic conditions, as well as waste dump configuration and dump construction methods. The results of a properly executed test program can be used to prevent or minimize the quantity of acid effluent produced and can have a significant effect on the cost of the necessary effluent treatment facilities by preventing over-design.
