Total synthesis of topopyrones B and D : novel topoisomerase I inhibitors Tan, Jason Samuel

Abstract

A straightforward synthesis of topopyrones B and D is described. The key reaction involved a convergent avenue to the anthraquinone core utilizing a tandem directed ometalation - metal halogen exchange methodology. The chemistry should be suitable for future SAR studies.
