An orientation for local resource curriculum development

The purpose of this conceptual thesis was to develop a construct for local resource curriculum development which is fundamentally different from Tyler's Rationale. This construct is justified in three ways: 1. It has bases in a particular view of knowledge, and in a view of development derived from that view of knowledge; 2. It was derived from the writer's experience over four years of development and operation of the Mining 11 program at Sparwood, British Columbia; 3. It has potential for generating implications about the development process and knowledge content of curriculum in other resource communities. This thesis describes for teacher/developers an epistemological orientation to the task of local resource curriculum development. The LIMIT SITUATION construct is used to generate implications for resource curriculum development, and seems to avoid many difficulties which are inherently present income, conceptions based on Tyler's Rationale.
