Abstract: A comprehensive staff training and development program was developed between 1991 and 2007. The program evolved into a systematic, responsive teaching and learning program, with thousands of participants annually and at least 40 in-house trainers. The University of British Columbia Library collaborated with other campus training providers and with off-campus training resources, such as the Association of Research Libraries institutes. A library-wide community of trainers was formed for three major projects. The training program was designed for all employee groups and for all library services and specialties, with funding being allocated from the regular operating budget. This report summarizes the plan and program for these sixteen years, 1991 to 2007.
