Purchasing power by income class within the metropolitan Vancouver market for single family dwellings Rooney, William John

Abstract

The urban market for detached homes, in comparison with most other commercial and industrial markets, is highly decentralized. Typically, no single firm controls more than a small portion of the total market. Therefore typical firms within the market possess neither the resources nor the motivation necessary for the undertaking of extensive market studies. The result is that empirical descriptive data relating to these markets is almost totally lacking. Metropolitan Vancouver is no exception to this general pattern. This study is designed to furnish empirical data relating to the Metropolitan Vancouver market for detached dwellings. Hopefully, the analysis contained herein will permit some insight into the above market.
