Abstract: This report examines the wind power systems, with a particular focus on wind turbine systems. It begins with a brief background with regards to wind power generation systems. The two types of wind turbines, horizontal axis wind turbines (HAWT) and vertical axis wind turbines (VAWT) are compared. Also, the components which compose a wind turbine are examined in detail with their functionalities. Lastly, there is a quick overview with respect to cost analysis and where wind power systems are recommended.
