Registered psychiatric nurses in British Columbia, 1977 : a descriptive report University of British Columbia. Division of Health Services Research and Development
Abstract
In the summer of 1977 the Health Manpower Research Unit of the University of British Columbia and the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of British Columbia cooperated in the collection of information on psychiatric nursing manpower in the province. This cooperative effort occurred at that point in time for two major reasons: 1) To establish a computerized data base on Psychiatric Nurses registered with the Association in this province including the demographic, educational and employment data necessary for manpower planning, and 2) To contribute, along with other information collected on psychiatric nursing in the Province of British Columbia, to the decision-making process regarding the supply of Psychiatric Nurses over the next five years. To this end, a Task Committee was established by the Health Manpower Working Group within the Ministry of Health at the request of the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association. This report addresses replies from Registered Psychiatric Nurses to a questionnaire mailed to them in the summer of 1977.
