Doctors & patients : supply, use and payments in British Columbia, 1998-1999 : part I - physician FTEs and distribution in B.C. Kazanjian, Arminée, 1947-; Chen, Alice W.; Wood, Laura Christine, 1955-; Fung, Patrick Wong
Abstract
This report on physician supply and utilization in B.C. is a revised version of the Fee Practice Medical Service Expenditures per Capita and Full-time-equivalent Physicians in B.C. reports previously published by the Health Human Resources Unit (HHRU), in response to ongoing concern about supply and distribution of physicians in the province. The purpose of the reports, therefore, is to provide descriptive information to medical service planners for their reference. This current report includes data about physician full-time-equivalent supply and utilization in each health authority and by specialty for the year 1998-99. Physician supply may be measured in both head counts and as estimates of full-time equivalents (FTEs). Each measure gives a different estimate of the availability of physician services. This report provides data on both measures.
