47 Years of Mining for Information

Since 2010, cIRcle has provided a permanent open access home to British Columbia Mine Reclamation Symposium conference papers. Sponsored by the British Columbia Technical and Research Committee on Reclamation (TRCR), the symposium has been held annually since 1977 to support the exchange of information and ideas on environmental protection and reclamation between government and industry.

Begin your exploration of more than 870 mining reclamation papers by searching for specific topics within the entire collection or start by browsing the 2024 symposium.

Highlights from the collection include:

Planning for post-mine landscapes : Collaboration between mining companies, governments, and Indigenous communities”, a paper discussing the history, context, and collaborative partnerships between mine sites and Indigenous communities developing “Returning Land Use” plans in British Columbia, Yukon, and Saskatchewan.

Forest surface soil management from textbook to operations, winner of the 2024 Tony Milligan Annual Book Award for practical paper the previous year.

Water management of the Steep Rock Iron Mines at Atikokan, Ontario during construction, operations, and after mine abandonment, a popular paper from the 2009 symposium with more than 4,000 views and downloads.
